THE role of AI in optometry will be the spotlight at 100% Optical – with leaders from Specsavers joined by AI pioneers on the main stage.

Specsavers Directors Giles Edmonds and Paul Morris will be joined by Dr Peter Thomas and Mike Horler from Cascader, the medical technology company launched by Moorfields Eye Hospital, UCL Institute of Ophthalmology (IoO) and Topcon Healthcare.

‘We will look at how the profession needs to develop clinically and connect digitally to maximise its usefulness to the public and the NHS with an eye to the government’s 10-year health plan, including the NHS hospital online service,’ says Mr Morris, director of professional advancement at Specsavers.

‘As you’d expect, we will discuss how AI integrates into the future, notably for glaucoma and how AI might fit into the solution. We will be on the main stage from 10.30am to 11.30am on Sunday 1 March.’

Specsavers is also providing a CPD programme for optometrists and dispensing opticians on its stand, number G50, during the show that takes place at London Excel between 28 February and 2 March 2026.

Highlights include Specsavers’ head of optometry development Neil Retallic leading a peer review on mental health for eye care professionals. Titled: ‘Look after yourself to better eye health’, it takes place between 9.15am and 10.15am on Sunday 1 March.

The CPD programme on Specsavers stand, number G50, also covers sustainability, fundus imaging, glaucoma qualifications, changing lives through dual wear, presbyopia and urgent eye care management.
