Specsavers announces £700,000 investment in its people

22 March 2024

Specsavers has underlined its commitment to colleague and clinical development by announcing a £700,000 investment in training for its audiology colleagues.

This funding was announced as thousands of delegates from across audiology and optical sectors came together for Specsavers’ annual seminar at the beginning of the month. Gordon Harrison, Director of Professional Advancement, shared the organisation’s commitment to investing in its people,

“It’s vital that we invest to ensure professional advancement opportunities for all and, by doing so, we can provide additional services and offer extra availability to customers.”

All audiology colleagues will have access to this investment in training. This will include developing junior colleagues and allowing them to progress into an audiology career, as well as developing Specsavers’ hearing aid dispensers and audiologists.

The investment will support all colleagues with a personal development plan, meaning training will be tailored to their specific needs.

Specsavers was recently named as one of the UK’s best places to work – ranking 23rd in the top 50 Best Workplaces TM in the UK.

One of only four new entries in the top 25 this year, this is the first time Specsavers has taken part in the Great Place to Work survey; a global benchmark which recognises top organisations by gathering feedback from employees on their experiences.

Colleagues said the opportunities offered to develop and grow, as well as the culture and level of care for employees, were the main reasons for rating the business so highly.

Specsavers has been certified as a Great Place to Work in 12 countries and is ranked the 12th Best WorkplaceTM in Europe.
