Tinnitus UK Ring The Alarm

25 February 2025

Another year and another Tinnitus Week, and what a week it was! Tinnitus UK launched their latest research, and brought the audiology industry together for their Tinnitus Week Conference 2025 at The Royal College of Surgeons, London.

7.6 million people suffer with tinnitus - that’s one in seven adults in the UK.

The conference welcomed all audiology professional bodies and key change makers, engaging in presentations, panel discussions and examining the approaches currently in place for tinnitus management and what changes needed to be implemented.

With the launch of ‘It’s Time to Talk About Hearing’ in 2024, Specsavers are committed to helping people live healthier for longer, and with that tackling the barriers that are faced accessing care.

Specsavers at Tinnitus UK Conference

We all know the profound impact Tinnitus has on wellbeing. Working together, Specsavers and Tinnitus UK, are committed to highlighting the importance of primary care audiology. This will help support patients with underlying hearing loss and earwax, provide guidance and advice and where appropriate, triage patients to specialise tinnitus or ENT services, as clinically necessary.

Danny Knight, Corporate Relationships Manager at Tinnitus UK says, “This Tinnitus Week, the sector has come together like never before with one goal: to provide excellent care for people living with tinnitus. The report we published shows significant gaps, but an overwhelming desire from professionals to deliver high-quality service. The collaboration is life-changing for people living with tinnitus. When industry leaders come together like this to break down barriers, everyone benefits – most importantly customers and patients!”

A huge thank you to everyone for supporting Tinnitus Week and helping ring the alarm, Tinnitus UK saw a staggering 87% increase in web traffic, 75% uplift in phone calls to their help line on day one of Tinnitus Week and we have had incredible awareness from DJ Woody Cook’s story. All great steps towards helping people live healthier for longer and tackling the barriers that are faced accessing care.

We’re excited to be working with Tinnitus UK, so watch this space for more training, webinars and access to some great insight and reports.
